Zoho Success Story

Zoho

Introduction:

Zoho Corporation, headquartered in Chennai, India, is a global software company that has made a name for itself in the fields of cloud computing and business software solutions. Zoho's mission is to provide businesses and organizations with a variety of cloud-based tools and services to help them streamline operations and increase productivity. From customer relationship management (CRM) and email marketing to project management and office software, Zoho provides a comprehensive suite of applications designed to simplify complex tasks and foster growth in an increasingly digital world. Zoho has become a trusted partner for businesses of all sizes, enabling them to thrive in today's competitive landscape, thanks to its user-friendly approach and commitment to creativity.

The Founders:

Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas, both engineers from IIT Madras, founded Zoho in 1996. They founded the company in a small apartment in Chennai, India, with the simple goal of "building smart technology to help businesses work better." They founded AdventNet, Inc. and specialized in network management software.

The Launch:

WebNMS, Zoho's first product, was released in 1997. WebNMS was a network management framework that allowed developers to create network and device management applications. WebNMS was well received by customers and analysts, and it aided AdventNet in gaining industry recognition.

The Growth:

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Zoho expanded its product portfolio and customer base. It expanded into new areas such as information technology management, security, database management, and testing tools. It also expanded into new markets such as Japan, Europe, and the United States. Zoho also began creating web-based applications for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), including Zoho CRM, Zoho Writer, Zoho Sheet, and Zoho Show.

The Transformation:

In 2009, Zoho made a pivotal shift by rebranding itself as Zoho Corporation after its online office suite. Zoho has decided to focus on cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) solutions for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and consumers. Zoho also adopted a profitable and bootstrapped business model, without the need for venture capital or an IPO. Zoho also made significant investments in R&D, innovation, and customer service.
