The Idea:

Mamaearth was founded in 2016 by a couple, Varun and Ghazal Alagh, who were expecting their first child. They wanted natural and safe products for their baby, but there were few options in India. They made the decision to develop their own line of baby care products that were free of toxins and harmful chemicals.

The Beginning:

Mamaearth started with an initial investment of approximately INR 90 lakh from their own funds. They launched their online platform in September 2016, offering a variety of baby care products certified by Made Safe, a non-profit organization based in the United States that verifies the safety of personal care products. Mamaearth was the first Asian brand to receive the Made Safe certification.

The Growth:

Mamaearth quickly became popular among parents looking for natural and safe products for their babies. The brand expanded its product portfolio to include adult skin care, hair care, wellness, and cosmetics. Mamaearth has also begun selling its products offline through retail stores and distributors in India and the United Arab Emirates. In just five years, Mamaearth has served over 5 million customers in 500 Indian cities and 19000 pin codes.

The Early Challenges:
