The company also began to focus on non-air businesses such as vacation packages and hotel reservations, which had higher margins and less competition. To improve its products and services, MakeMyTrip also invested in R&D, quality control, and marketing strategies. MakeMyTrip expanded its portfolio by acquiring other travel companies, including Luxury Tours and Travel (Singapore), ITC Group Hotel Travel Group, ETB Group (Europe), and MyGola (India). MakeMyTrip also expanded into the international market, opening branches in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Challenges and Opportunities:

Despite its success, MakeMyTrip came across some difficulties along the way. Other online and offline travel players, such as Yatra, Cleartrip, Goibibo, Expedia, and Thomas Cook, competed with MakeMyTrip. MakeMyTrip had to adjust to shifting consumer preferences and expectations, such as personalized service, simplicity, and value for money. MakeMyTrip also encountered operational issues such as regulatory challenges, legal disputes, technical glitches, and fraud. MakeMyTrip, on the other hand, saw these difficulties as opportunities to learn from its mistakes, improve its processes, innovate its offerings, and broaden its reach. • Ibibo Group:

Ibibo Group is an online travel company that operates several well-known brands like Goibibo, redBus, and PayU India. Founded in 2007 by Ashish Kashyap, former country head of Google India, Ibibo Group offers a diverse range of travel-related products and services, including flights, hotels, buses, trains, cabs, and payment solutions. In 2016, MakeMyTrip acquired Ibibo Group in an all-stock deal, forming one of India's largest travel conglomerates. This merger also gave MakeMyTrip access to Naspers, a major shareholder in Ibibo Group.

• Easy to Book Holding B.V.:

Easy to Book Holding B.V., headquartered in the Netherlands, owns and operates Easytobook.com, a user-friendly hotel booking website featuring over 300,000 hotels worldwide. Founded in 2004 by Omri Amir and Michel Jager, the platform aimed to simplify hotel bookings for travelers. MakeMyTrip's acquisition of Easy to Book Holding B.V. in 2014 bolstered its presence in the European market and expanded its hotel booking offerings.

• Luxury Tours & Travel Pte Limited:

Luxury Tours & Travel Pte Limited, based in Singapore, offers an array of travel services, including flights, hotels, tours, cruises, and car rentals. Established in 1978 by Tan Choon Seng as a small travel agency, it has since become a prominent player in the Singaporean travel industry, serving both leisure and corporate travelers. MakeMyTrip acquired Luxury Tours & Travel Pte Limited in 2011, marking its entry into the Southeast Asian market and granting access to a wide network of travel partners.

• Quest2travel.com India Pvt. Ltd.:

Quest2travel.com India Pvt. Ltd., an Indian company founded in 2000 by Abhay Rangnekar, offers corporate travel management solutions to large and medium-sized enterprises. Their services encompass flight and hotel bookings, visa assistance, expense management, and reporting tools. MakeMyTrip's acquisition of Quest2travel.com India Pvt. Ltd. in 2019 reinforced its presence in the corporate travel segment and expanded its client base.

• Hotel Travel Ltd.:

Hotel Travel Ltd., situated in Thailand, is the proprietor of HotelTravel.com, a hotel booking website featuring over 140,000 hotels worldwide. Founded in 1999 by Blair Speers, a former journalist and travel writer, HotelTravel.com strives to provide travelers with the best hotel deals and discounts across various destinations and categories. MakeMyTrip's acquisition of Hotel Travel Ltd. in 2012 bolstered its hotel inventory and customer base in the Asia-Pacific region.
