Richard Charles Nicholas Branson is an English business magnate. He is also and an investor and author. He is also the founder of the virgin group which controls almost 400 companies in various fields today.
Richard Branson was born on 18 July 1950 in black health, London to Eve Branson and Edward James Branson. His mother was a former ballet dancer and his father was a barrister. He also has two younger sisters.
Branson attended Scaitcliffe School, a prep school in Surrey until he was 13. He also attended Cliff View House School in Sussex. He attended Stowe School, an independent school in Buckinghamshire until he was 16.
When Richard was in school he did not keep up his performances in studies and because he had dyslexia. Dyslexia is also known as a reading disorder. He always struggles to keep up in school.
When he had his last day in school his headmaster Robert Drayson that he would either end up in prison or become in millionaire. At first, he tries to grow and sell the Christmas trees and budgerigars but he failed this attempt. He later start a youth culture magazine name student with Nik Powell in 1966.
In January 1968 the first issue of Student appeared. In first-year students sold 8000 dollars in advertising and 50,000 copies released for free. In the first three years of starting this business, he became successful in it. Branson once said:
"There is no point in starting your own business unless you do it out of a sense of frustration."
Later four years of this magazine business he started selling mail-order records to the students who bought magazines. He start his records selling the business due to some losses he decided to escape from tax and uses some dishonest methods. He starts his records shop in Oxford Street in London. Then later in 1971 he was questioned in connection with the selling of records declared export stock. This matter was never bought to court because Richard agreed to repay any unpaid tax.

In 1972 he use his money and made it from the record store and launched the records label virgin record with Nik Powell. The name Virgin was suggested by one of his employees. His first artist on the virgin label was “Mike Oldfield”. Richard recorded his single “Tubular Bell” with the help of his team in 1973. This was the first release of virgin records and after this, they became a chart-topping best-seller.
Later Branson start to sign those bands that other companies were unwilling to sign. Later he signed a controversial band called “Sex Pistol” which other companies are not willing to sign.
Virgin Records also go to sign other artists which include the Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel, XTC, Japan, UB40, Steve Winwood, and Paula Abdul, and later it becomes the world's largest independent record label. He also praised that he show the public lesser grade music bands such as Faust and can. Virgin also introduced a band culture club to the music world. In 1979 Branson’s net worth was estimated at £5 million. Later that time Virgin Records went international.
He didn’t succeed in every business which he did. Later the company also faced financial struggles. Branson had to sell it to THORN EMI for 1 billion dollars. Selling records was not an easy task for Branson. There were also some reports of Branson that he was crying after signing the contract.
Later he also opens a virgin radio. Later he was able to establish V2, his second record company that signed on artists like Tom Jones and Powder Finger. He also started more businesses and also gained success in some and failure in them because is a part of every person's life.
In 1994 he launched his products such as virgin cola and virgin vodka. But this type of product was not launched successfully and he failed in this business he later said:
“I will never make the mistake of thinking that the big companies are sleeping again”.
In 2000 he launched a sort of Facebook. That was not social media but it was the same idea. It was also said that it had thousands of members but the number dropped in 2005.
He also start his virgin bride’s business in 1996. For this business, he wore wedding dresses but he does not be successful in this business also. He left his business at the end of the year 2007.
He also start the business of virgin cosmetics in 1997. For this business, he sold the products online at a virgin store. But later he lose his money by this idea so he left this in 2009.
In 1998 he start his business of clothing for both men and women. He went to market with the clothes, shoes and other accessories but after two years he left this business also.
He also start the virgin car business in 2000. In this business, he had to sell cars online. He want to sell 24 thousand cars in his first year of business but things were not going according to his plan. He only sells 12 thousand in the year and this website was ended in 2005.
In his whole life faces a lot of struggles and losses due to his effort of trying again and again after a loss today virgin group holds more than 200 companies in more than 30 countries some of these countries includes the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Canada, Asia, Europe, and South Africa.
Branson was married to Kristen Tomassi in 1972 but they divorced in 1976. In 1989, Branson wed Joan Templeman of Glasgow and He arrived at the wedding ceremony hanging from a helicopter. This couple had three children of which one is deceased.
